President William opened the meeting and welcomed Jeff Hinckley and his mother Susan Hinckley.

Bart: told us Lew Burridge is very sick in hospice. He got his address from Lew's daughter. Bart visited him last Saturday. He talked a great deal. Bart sent a birthday card around for everyone to sign. His birthday is this Sat.

Candace had two announcements.

Gave out Program Book for South Shore Art Center 56th Annual Arts Festival on the Cohasset Commons on June 17th-June 19th (Friday-Saturday). It includes large art exhibits, art activities, venders, entertainment, and food. In the booklet on page 36 the Rotary is mentioned for the help in the African Studies Collaboration, a program that Rotary does with the schools. Had a great event on Tuesday at Gates Intermediate School with the African arts and Gates students had a power point presentation.. Several rotary members were there including William, Bob, Michael, Dick, and Dietrich.

Candace gave out fliers on "Operation Homecoming" a project to support our troops with care packages for the troops coming home to their barracks. The board had approved it to be brought before the regular meeting. It was agreed that personal contributions would be collected towards this project. Joe recommend that the Sgt. Michael J. Kelley funds ($500) be used for this project. The members present voted in the affirmative. The personal donations would be added to this amount.

Joan: reminded members of the luncheon for the seniors on Saturday at St. Luke's. Help is needed.

William introduced Jeffrey Hinckley one of the Senior High School scholarship recipients. Katie Murray the other recipient couldn't be here.

Jeffrey thanked all and said he really appreciated receiving the Scholarship. He will be attending Roger Williams College in Rhode Island. He told us abut his trip when he was a freshman in high school and went with his mother to El Salvador to help Habitat for Humanity build houses. He told about his experiences and meeting Carlos, an electrician who took a bus for two hours to get to work. Carlos had little but was thankful for all that he had. Jeffrey learned a great deal from the people esp. how thankful they were for everything. To them everything was a gift. He learned from them to have a positive attitude.

William presented Jeffrey with a two thousand dollar scholarship. He also gave him a Rotary card with The Four Way Test and the Object of Rotary.

A picture was taken of William, Jeffrey and his mother, Susan and Donna Nuzzo-Mueller, principal of Scituate High School.
