June 13th, 2012: Scholarship Night at Janice Brown's
Members and honorary members present were Dietrich Bilger, Lambert Brandes, Lois Brandes, Janice Brown, Candace Cramer, Jeannie Durkee, Walter Heller, Michael Johnson, Suzanne Kavanagh, Joe Kelley, Connie Mitchell, John Miller, Bart Nuboer, Donna Nuzzo-Muller, Robert Schipul, Sandra Schipul, Lucille Sorrentino, Jack Stebe, Ben Summers, Lisa Thompson, and Bernie Westerveld. Friends present were Rusty Brown, Karen Kelley, David Tompson, and Beverly Westerveld.
Scholarship and RYLA recipients and their parents present were Gail Black, Kathenne Black, Ellen Burke, Kathleen Burke, Mike Burke, Maeve Dawley, Maura Dawley, Paul Dawley, Jim Hassett, Michael Hassett, Sheryl Hassett, Keaton Trevena, Laura Trevena, and Lawrence Trevena.
Members, Friends, and Guests of Scituate Rotary gathered in the evening at the beautiful home of Janice and Rusty Brown.
The evening was spent in Feasting, Fellowship and Celebration.
Five Scituate Rotary Scholarship and RYLA recipients, Kathenne Black, Kathleen Burke, Maeve Dawley, Michael Hassett, and Keaton Trevena from Scituate High School were honored for their achievements.
Joe Kelley presided and praised both the students and their proud parents for all that goes into the making of these outstanding young people. Each recipient spoke briefly and told about the benefit they had received as a result of being chosen for this honor.
Lisa Tompson presented the awards. Kathleen Burke and Maeve Dawley won the Service Scholarships. Kathenne Black, Michael Hassett, and Keaton Trevena had been chosen to attend the RYLA Leadership Conference that took place on Cape Cod.
Retiring SHS Principal, Donna Nuzzo-Muller, was in attendance to support and affirm her students and their parents.
An outstanding evening of Fun and Fellowship was enjoyed by all.
