Ben Summers announced that he would be giving everyone a few business names to call for the placemat ads that are being used during Heritage Days.
Ray Helmick began his talk by giving us an update on the places he has traveled to in the past year. He told us that his work is all about breaking taboos and the main focus on this course is forgiveness and reconciliation.
Ray Helmick explained to us that the films help people to see how someone outside of his own culture has dealt with very similar problems. He has found that people who have suffered want to tell their story- the films give people this experience. People in conflict are so full of stereotypes- the images that they have are demeaning, yet they are still very curious.
Ray Helmick ended his talk with some very powerful words: “Others have the right to be who they actually are.”
