February 6, 2013: Club Night

The regular weekly meeting of The Scituate Rotary Club was held at The Scituate Country Club on February 6, 2013.

President Elect, John Miller, called the meeting to order at 6:30 PM and led The Pledge to The American Flag.

Ben Summers offered the Invocation and led the speaking of The Four Way Test.

Members present were Dietrich Bilger, Lambert Brandes, Lois Brandes, William Clark,  John Miller,  Joan Powers, Ben Summers,  and Bernie Westerveld.

Lois gave the secretary's report and Bernie gave the treasurer's report.

Dietrich spoke briefly about The Rotary International Assembly and its organization.   Dietrich was responsible for the planning of the meetings this year for that event and will be our speaker next week on February 13th.

Ben gave a Word of Wisdom.

Bernie presided over Happy Sad Bucks and Queen of Hearts.  The Queen remained on her throne and as the deck becomes smaller, anticipation soars.

The Phone Book will need to be closed soon so that distribution can be in a timely fashion and advertisers will realize their investment in placing an advertisement.

Joan Powers has pictures to give to Nancy White of The Scituate Mariner to publicize our Awards Night and our selected charities.

Our Shelterbox, #21491, is not yet deployed.

Lisa Tompson and John Miller went to PrePets and passed out Save The Date Flyers for Dietrich's Installation Party.  Thank you Lisa and John for handling this publicity.

Razia Jan will speak at our monthly meeting on March 6th.  This will be a Club Night and we will present to her the grant and matching funds for The Michael Kelley School in Afghanistan.

The possibility of using a Motor Cycle Fund Raiser was brought to our attention.  The money raised would go to The Michael Kelley School.  There will be more information on this at a latter date.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:00 PM.

Respectfully submitted,
Lois Brandes
