December 19, 2012, Club Election Night.

The weekly meeting of The Scituate Rotary Club was convened at 6:30 at The Scituate Country Club.

Members in attendance were Dietrich Bilger, Lambert Brandes, Lois Brandes, Jamie Gilmore, Walter Heller, Beatrice Hurwitch, Joe Kelley, John Miller, Bart Nuboer, Joan Powers, Bob Price, Judy Price, Peter Rhoten, Janet Schmitz, Jack Stebe, Ben Summers, Lisa Tompson, Howard Tufts, and Bernie Westerveld.

The meeting convened with Joe Kelley leading The Pledge to The American Flag.

Beatrice Hurwitch offered the Invocation.

We observed several minutes of silence for the victims of Newtown.

A secret ballot vote was taken for the new slate of officers beginning the new term of office in July, 2013, and ending in July, 2014.

Elected with no nays were President Elect, John Miller; Treasurer, Bernie Westerveld; Secretary, Lois Brandes; Two Year Term Director, Lisa Tompson; and One Year Term Director, Joan Powers (replacing Howard).  In last year's election, Jack Stebe was elected President, to begin his term in July 2013.  At that point, as a Past President, Joe Kelley, becomes a Director.

Ben Summers presented Words of Wisdom about a 112 year old Beekeeper in New York.

Joe told about his plans to meet up with Razia Jan on Friday, December 21st, for breakfast at 8:30.  He invited any Scituate Rotary Club Member to join them.

Bernie mailed the dues to the South Shore Council at $1.00 a member.

Walter presided over Happy/Sad Bucks and Queen of Hearts.  Joe Kelley held the winning ticket, but alas, Santa did not come early.

Although she did not win the election, Razia Jan was awarded $50,000 dollars for being in the top ten.

Joe Kelley spent two and one half hours with the American Legion and helped to send 1,200 cards to Veterans in Scituate.  Congratulations, Joe, on being part of this worthy endeavor.

Pre pets will be held on February 2nd.  This year it is replacing the District Assembly.  In order to get grant money, one must be qualified.  Attend this meeting and become qualified!  Registration will be paid for by Scituate Rotary Club Funds for any member who attends.

The meeting adjourned at 8:00 PM with Best Wishes for Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year.

Respectfully submitted,
Lois Brandes
