Speaker: Debbie Cook, Greenscapes Program Manger, & Samantha Woods, Director of the North and South Rivers Watershed Association, will speak about the 5th graders, "Water All Around Us." supported by the Scituate Rotary Club.

William: welcomed speakers and welcomed back Lois and Lambert Brandes

Our club is invited to the Hingham/Hull's Clambake on Thursday, August 26 at 6 PM. Encourage members to attend. Hingham Club chartered our club.

Joan: read e-mail about Joyce Coulter's death and gave the information about the service on Friday 27th in Clinton, MA.

Some members will attend.

There are some openings on committees. This will be discussed later. Committees meetings at 5:00 PM before Club meeting on Sep. 1st.

Dietrich: Professor Padrick O'Malley's will give a presentation to South Shore Clubs sometime in October in Cohasset.

Jamie: Encourage members to donate to the International Foundation.

Members and development meeting in Weymouth on September 7th from 5:30 pm--7:30 pm

Official Swearing in: Dietrich introduced Maryanne Cohan, returning member and Richard (Dick) Wainwright, new member. Walter sponsored Maryanne and Bernie sponsored Richard. William presented them with the New Members kits including their pins

William introduced : Debbie Cook, Greenscapes Program Manger, & Samantha Woods "Directors of the North and South Rivers Watershed Association.

Debbie Cook: Gave a slide presentation on The North and South Rivers Watershed Association. This is their 40th anniversary. Their goals are: Protests critical watershed lands, monitors invasive species, advocates for sustainable water policies, mobilizes members to take environmental action locally. She also described what they want to restore, and how to educate children and adults.

Samantha Woods: Thanked the rotary for the $5,000 Suzanne Kavanagh gave them from our rotary to the educational program for 5th graders, "Water All Around Us". She said the money went for books, curricular, classes and field trips. In 2 years they have visited 14 school, 1575 5th grade students and 10 South Shore towns including Scituate. Last year they were at Cushing School.

Their program includes: Class study, bus tours to water facilities and stewardship activities. Goal for each family is to use only 65 gallons a day. She showed a powers point of a 5th grade class in Norwell working on greenspace programs. She gave each member a booklet with the information that she gives to the student and parents.

They are looking for funds. They need $600 per school or $400 if the school provides a bus.
