Joe Kelley read thank you notes from recipients of Scituate Rotary's good-will.

In a Foundation Minute, Bart Nuboer spoke about Rotary International's role in the erradication of polio, and water filtration in areas of the world where disease is prevalent because of the lack of clean water.

Ben Summers presented Words of Wisdom, "Always let the boss go first!"

Bernie Westerveld reported on the FACTS Coalition community education event he attended informing the public about the insidious problem of narcotic drug addition among our youthful population. Unbeknownst to the youthful user, deadly opiates are mixed with marijuana causing addition and death. This tragic situation requires awareness, far-reaching education, and vigilance. May we accept the challenge.

Janet Schmitz reported that half of the monies due from the Phone Book ads have been collected.

A COMMUNITY VOLUTEER RECOGNITION NIGHT will be held WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 19, 2012, at LOMBARDO'S in RANDOLPH, MA, 6:00-10:00 PM, $45.00 per person.

Katie Baxter and Kathy Meeker presented the Scituate Library Renovation and Expansion Project. Two large easels showcased the architectural plans, and handouts and a brochure outlined the details of every aspect of the project. The Scituate Library Foundation must raise $5 million dollars before the deadline of July 1, 2014, to receive the $5 million dollar grant it has been awarded from the state of Massachusetts. The Town of Scituate is likely to supply $2 million, thereby completing the $12 million dollars required to bring this project to fruition. Rotary Club Members had many pertinent questions, and Katie and Kathy answered them all with ease and expertise. The scope of this well-defined project is visionary, and speaks to the present and future needs of Scituate's commitment to keep its students and citizenry on the cutting edge of Literacy. Katie and Kathy, we applaud your vision, dedication, and commitment to the realization of this lofty, but essential goal.

The meeting was adjourned at 8:10 PM.

Respectfully submitted,
Lois Brandes
