Scituate Rotary Newsletter for August 19th, 2009: Honoring Kaitlin St.George

Our weekly meeting was held at Joe and Karen Kelley's lovely home by the sea.
In attendance for the meeting were Janice Brown, Lew Burridge, William Clark, Michael Johnson, Joe Kelley, Karen Kelley, Bart Nuboer, Joan Powers, Arthur Roberts, Bob Schipul, Sandi Schipul, Janet Schmitz, Ben Summers, Lisa Tompson, and Bernie Westerveld.

Guests included Joe's brother Bob Kelley, Joe's nephew Mike and his girlfriend Grace, Arthur's nephew Bill, Lois and Lambert Brandes, and Judy and Jeff Calla.
And, last but not least, our guest of honor, Kaitlin St.George.

William led the meeting in Candace's absence. All members were encouraged to Sign up for at least one committee. Bernie requested a totally volontary dollar from all members without a pin. We did not do "happy/sad bucks".
Joe led us in the Pledge of Allegiance and Bob gave the blessing. Diane was unable to attend so there was no treasurer's report. Janice had no official secretary's report.
Janice did bring Arthurs book to the meeting for purchase by the members. Six books were sold. Joe made a deposit of $2666.00 – available funds from the foundation are $9000.00.

[Karen, Joe and Arthur]Arthur and his nephew Bill presented Joe and Karen with the cover from the first edition of the Cushing book and the photo of their son from the dedication page.
The cover and the photo were framed and matted for the Kelley's by Arthur's nephew Bill, who does all the art work for Arthur's books.

[Kaitlin and Michael]Michael made a presentation to Kaitlin St George since she is leaving us. She recently got married and is moving to Natick. She will be teaching school in Canton. Mike talked about what a great job she did with the Rotary interact program. He presented Kaitlin with a bouquet of flowers, a certificate of appreciation, and an autographed copy of the "Chief Justice Cushing" book.

Respectfully submitted,
Janice Brown, Secretary
