Scituate Rotary Newsletter April 6,2011 - Club Night

President: William opened the meeting welcome back Eric and Beatrice.

Secretary: no report Checks have been coming in for the phone book.

William: phone book is our major fund raiser. Mainly done by Janet and a few other members. Need member to help by taken checks and ads over to Fox. Also those who we do business with should be asked to put in an ad.

Phone Book: Janet We need new ads esp. since some former ads haven't been renewed. Have a list of everyone who has an ad in. Check to see if she has assignments for you that you didn't get.

Dietrich: thank all who had supported him running in the 10K run at the Road Race "By the Sea" a fund raiser of the Rotary Club of Cohasset on Saturday, April 3rd. It was a great day with good weather. He finished in 8th place. He raised $560. He will send out an e-mail to those who haven't given him a check. Next week he will tell us about the Youth program FTC (forum for cities in Transition) managed by Professor O'Malley, well known in the peace movement. The meeting will be at The Maritime Center with a million dollar meal. He sent around a sign up sheet for the food we would bring in for the meal and you can e-mail him what you will bring in.

Foundation Treasurer: Joe $27,000 has come in for the phone ads but we need to have $42,000 before we have a profit. $12,500 has been given to Fox                   No bills outstanding. $3,000 was taken out of the emergency fund for the family relief fund. Reminded us that the by-laws say 10% of the net gross of funds raised has to be put back into the emergency fund.

Treasurer: Jeannie handed out the bills for March

Scholarships: Lisa said the scholarship applications are in. We will have two scholarships and each receiving a $2,000 scholarship.   The committee will be Lisa, Sandi, Jeannie and Jack. Must have names in the first week of May.                    Jack: Would be good to meet the students.                                               William: Would like to see the students at one of our meetings so they can see what Rotary is all about.

Dietrich: Encourage all to come to the next meeting where he will be telling us about the peace conflict of FTC. There are still funds needed. Two thousand dollars needed.

Jamie announced that the Board had agree to raise $1000 for the FTC project byhaving three million dollar meals on April 13, April 27, and May 18th The first meal is the next meeting at The Maritime Center. We are also planning on having an auction along with the meals. Need to support these million dollar meals.

Eric: He is available to help with a luncheon for the seniors. Joan will check for a date at St. Luke's. We could have Bingo and Jeannie said she would do it.
