25 October 2017: Club Night

Joan handed out photos and shared a couple collage photo posters she had made from the St. Luke's Community Dinner on Sun., Oct. 22.

Meeting was called to order by Debbie Wheeler, President at 6:30 PM

Quest:  Discussion on how we can get new members esp. younger ones

Happy Bucks/ Sad Bucks ( last night for Polio)

Community Dinner: Oct 22nd dinner was very good. 3 girls from the interact group helped. Had a great crew of workers. Thanked our cooks Joe and Walter. Had a 50/50 with $120. One lady won $60 and $60 went to polio.

World polio: World Polio Day was Oct. 24th.We are signed up to be at the transfer station on Nov. 18-19 with a tent and with the club banner. We will have Polio handouts and our large clear jug for donations.  People signed up for both dates from 8 AM to 2 PM. Sat. 18th 8-10 Walter & Sue , 10-12 Joe & Dietrich, 12-2 Bart & Janet, Sunday 19th 12-2 Joan & Ching Ching

Foundation Dinner is Nov. 9th People need to register and send a check. Would be nice to have a table of 10 people. Eight people said they are going. Debbie and Joan can’t go because they will be out of town.

Nov. 18th (Sat) 1--3:30 Uganda water project at the Scituate Library (abbreviated description on library website):  Debbie said she will have a sign-up sheet at our next meeting on Nov.1 at Lucille's, for people to help talk to people at the library about Rotary, give out handouts, & help w/ easy refreshments.  If people don't want to make cards, they can help donate toothbrushes (adults & youth) and lightweight washcloths (no white please, lightweight so they dry quickly). Lucille said she would have gifts to sell.

Received from Cohasset:  Debbie gave out fliers of The Rotary Club of Cohasset “Harvest Dinner” The chief if Chef Brian Houlihan of Bia Bistro on Wed. November 8th from 6:30 - 9:30 PM at Wilcutt Commons, Cohasset. Price $100 tickets are available at cohassetrotary.org

Interact: JD said the interact group have made cards for Life Care residents, and are collecting money for fire victims and other projects.

Paper Trees: JD has the list where we are going to put trees. We have plenty of the paper trees

Party for Cardinal Cushing students at the Baker Tavern

Janice is organizing it and suggest we only get 20 students and will need more then 20 Rotary members and friends. She said she thinks we should get regular gifts wrapped rather instead of gift cards. We will need to let the teachers know about this suggestion. We have Santa and Mrs. Claus.

Calendar notes:

November 1st  6:15PM. Planning Meeting at 12 Meeting House Lane, condo meeting room, use ground level entrance door which faces the marsh. -Lucille will get food for those who RSVP, $8.00 - $10 each person.   11 people said they were coming. Will discuss nominations for officers. If you want to attend but did not RSVP, call Lucille ASAP at 545-0870.  If you need more location directions, call Debbie at 545-5707.
