Senior SAFE Program With SFD Lt. David Bortolotto
Senior Safety

Physical and mental changes occur in the aging process that may limit the ability of older adults to react quickly in an emergency. Changes in vision, hearing, sense of touch, memory, cognitive ability and mobility may impact their safety.  David will discuss everyday tips to help keep our seniors safe. 

 

Lieutenant David Bortolotto

David has worked for the Scituate Fire department since 1998. He was appointed Lieutenant in 2008 and has served as a Fire Safety instructor for Scituate schools since 2012. Currently he is the towns Community Emergency Response Team instructor and Over sees the Senior SAFE program. Lieutenant Bortolotto has also served at the Fire Departments ALS Coordinator and HIPPA Officer.  David has a Bachelor’s degree in Fire Science, he has been a nationally registered Paramedic for thirty years and sits on the Office of Emergency Medical services Medical Control Committee for Massachusetts. He is also the proud father of three children one boy and two girls.

David grew up in West Roxbury the youngest of four one sister and two brothers. He was always active in his community working at the YMCA during the winter months and Lifeguarding and teaching free swimming lessons to underprivileged kids during the summer. After High School he attended Northeastern University and majored in engineering. But after an accident at the YMCA which put him in the hospital for ten days he decided to help people in need and started on his path to the Fire Service.
