Presented by Dietrich Bilger, Fellow Scituate Rotarian, Pasty President of the Scituate Rotary Club and Past Rotary District 7950 Governor - In November 1979, almost 40 years ago, a group of Iranian students stormed the American Embassy in Tehran and held over 60 Americans hostage. The hostage takeover lasted 444 days. The last piece that had to fall into place to conclude the Iran Hostage Crisis on January 20, 1981, was the financial settlement of frozen assets between Iran and US Banks. One of our own members took part in this! Dietrich will share his firsthand experience regarding the exchange of monies, the final release of the hostages, and will add a host of fascinating stories about this historic event.
