Cape Kid Meals will hold a golf tournament to raise money that will go toward feeding children in need on Cape Cod. It is expected to become an annual fundraising event. The Cape Kid Meals Charity Golf Tournament will be held at the Ridge Club in Sandwich on Tuesday, August 24. Check-in will begin at 9:30 AM, announcements will start at 10:45 AM, and the scramble format tournament will have a shotgun start at 11 AM. The tournament features varying levels of registration price points, from $50 to attend the reception only on up to to being an event sponsor for $7,500. Individual golfers can register for $175. Details about what each sponsorship and golfer level includes can be found on the tournament’s website. Additionally, the registration form has options for making a monetary donation only or for donating an item for the event’s auction. Cape Kids Meals was formed in 2014 in Dennis and has grown to provide meals to nearly 700 elementary school students across the Cape. Students are selected based on their free or reduced lunch status, which accounts for about 33 percent of all students in the region. Students who receive free or reduced lunch are guaranteed a breakfast and a lunch during the school day, but may not have food security at home during the weekends or during school vacation weeks. Cape Kid Meals helps fill those gaps. Bags that have been filled with shelf-stable and ready-to-eat foods are delivered weekly to participating schools and then sent home on Fridays with the child. |
