TODAY'S SPEAKER: Grace Thayer from the food Access Collabarative of Greater Attleboro.
Grace was born and raised in Taunton and graduated from Bridgewater State University with a BA in English. After school she joined the Americorps and now services the Campus Compact Americorps VISTA for food insecurity at Wheaton College and the Attleboro Norton YMCA. Grace has been organizing and facilitating the newest resource group addressing food insecurity called the Food Access Collaborative for Greater Attleboro.
This collaborative meets at the Sweet House and provides and opportunity for multiple Food Pantrys, Soup Kitchens, etc to share resources, ideas and learn from each others successes and failures. The Wheaton College Food Pantry helps students when dining halls are closed of when students run out of dining points. About 14 students a day take advantage of the Food Pantry. Food supplies are augmented by donated Stop and Shop gift cards. Grace will be heading off to Grad school to further her Eglish degree.

Rotary Minute
So many members in the club take on leadership roles and serve the club to help or mission of Service Above Self. Some members, however, serve by always being present,embracing the importance of Fellowship and encouraging the same in the rest of the Membership. When I was President, the passing of Ed Kelly inspired our club to establish the Ed Kelly Fellowship Award. Ed never served any leadership role in the club, but never missed an event or program the club established. The first recipient of this award was the late Russ Marchand. Russ was quick with a joke, a master storyteller and never met a microphone he didn't like. He was one of the first members who made me feel welcome in the club. Many worthy Rotarians have received the award since then and I always look forward to the next recipient.
