Auction
Gerry Hickman and Jim Jones provided an update along with proposed changes to the 2026 Auction.

The big change is THE DATES...This year we've moved everything by one month... solicitation letters in early March... Auction opens on April 15th... Close on April 27th.

Why change?
  • Restaurants are having their worst season in the winter and are less likely or able to donate,
  • Some donors and Rotarians are Sno Birds and are difficult to reach in Feb/early Mar.
  • Golf Courses are harder to solicit in the winter
  • Mulch and Loam are always big sellers, but landscapers may not be around in February, and buyers are not thinking about gardens that early.
  • Sox tickets are not available in February.
We also hope to expand the solicitation base into North Attleboro. We will try a pilot program Jim calls "Callers & Runners". Some Rotarians have no problem making follow-up calls to the solicitation letters, while they do not have time to collect the donations. Others dislike making calls but will gladly pick up. So, we will divide those tasks among a few volunteers and see how it works. The pilot will be for new solicitations. Everyone will have their traditional donors to call.

A new month brings fresh optimism and ideas with it -I hope this month brings warmer weather! Happy February, my fellow Rotarians!
