VISITING ROTARIANS: Nicole Brien, District Governor Nominee. She is a member of the Woonsocket Rotary Club.
Nicole has been a member of Woonsocket Rotary Club since January 26, 2017 and has served as a Board Member, President-Elect, and Club President from 2021-2022. She has served as the Club’s Service Chairperson, coordinating the renovation of two elementary school libraries. Additionally, she created and coordinated ‘just for you’ - a giving center of clothing and essentials for foster, financially challenged, and homeless children, and the ‘birthday in a bag’ program to ensure all children celebrate their birthdays.
Nicole currently serves as Assistant Governor for Area 9, AG Liaison for the District Membership Committee, Advisor on the New Generations Committee, and is a graduate of the Rotary Leadership Institute. She has been recognized for a Rotary Citation for the work completed during her Presidency 2021-2022, and is a Recipient of a Paul Harris.
Whether serving as an officer in St. Ann’s Church CYO, Vice President of Coventry Little League, holding the positions of Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and events coordinator for Rhode Island Sports Heroes, or as a volunteer coordinator for the Gloria Gemma Breast Cancer Resource Foundation, service has been a lifelong passion for Nicole.
A graduate of Katharine Gibbs School, Nicole is the President of Bourget and Associates, Inc. located in Woonsocket, which provides field examination and inventory services primarily for financial institutions.
Nicole and her husband Jon, also a member of the Woonsocket Rotary Club, have been married since 2016 after reconnecting at their High School Reunion. They reside in Woonsocket, Rhode Island, and have four children Kristen, Chad, Juliana, and Gabriella, as well as three grandchildren, Gabriel, Siena, and Ashton. Nicole’s parents, Paul and Denise Bourget, are also Rotarians of the Woonsocket Rotary Club.
Nicole and Jon enjoy spending time with family and friends, watching Patriots football, hiking, playing board games, cuddling their puppies Charlie and Layla, and ‘taking a ride’ to see where the road takes them!

Fun Facts:
1. Minnie the Mouse's first name is not Minnie. It is Minerva. Minnie was a nickname that was given by Ub Iwerks and Walt Disney. Minnie's actual name is rarely used.
2. Lots of early Disney films are a mother-free zone: The Jungle Book, Pinocchio and - sob - Bambi. It's been suggested that this was because of their creator's guilt over the death of his own mother in 1938. Fresh from the success of Snow White, he had bought a home for his parents, but tragically a faulty heating system led to Flora Disney's death from carbon monoxide poisoning.
3. For a couple of years Disney held the patent for Technicolor, making him the only animator allowed to make color films.
4. Disneyland, California, was built in the early 1950s, opening in 1955. Anxious to be on site as much as possible, Walt built an apartment for his family above the 'Fire Department' on Main Street. A lamp in the window signaled to staff that he was in residence, and this is now always alight in his honor. Awww.
5. The theme parks use a patented 'Smellitzer' device designed to pump certain scents around. Whether it's a waft of sea salt in Pirates of the Caribbean, or vanilla in Main Street, your senses are constantly being played.
6. Main Street is based on 1910 America, while Tomorrowland was designed to represent 1986 - both were chosen because they were Halley's Comet years.
7. While a million and one kids have lost their minds at Disney World, adults have misplaced an estimated 1.65 million pairs of glasses since 1971. Every year, the park finds an average of 6,000 cellphones, 3,500 digital cameras and 18,000 hats.
8. Disney World was evacuated on September 11, 2001 in just 30 minutes, as staff feared it might become another terrorist target. They then worked through the night to erect the Fourth of July decorations, so it could reopen the following day with an air of national solidarity.
9. The Disney World resort is about the same size as San Francisco.
10. It would take 68 years to sleep in every single room at Disney World. That's a lot of pillow mints.
11. Walt's final words - written rather than spoken - were, rather cryptically 'Kurt Russell'. No one, including the actor himself, has any idea why.
