The John and Beatrice Rogers Memorial Community Service Award

The John and Beatrice Rogers Memorial Community Service Award is given to a graduating senior at Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School for service to the School and to the success of the Community. The student exemplifies the highest standards of integrity and service to humanity in her/his
volunteer work and personal life. John and Beatrice were committed to public service as shown by their devotion to Church, Rotary, and YMCA youth services. Both were loving and caring individuals, and it showed in their involvement. John F. Rogers, Jr. of Brockton received his Accounting Degree from Burdett
College. He was a veteran of World War II serving with the 337th Air Service Group Army Pacific Theatre. He was part owner and Treasurer of the E. Norris Brown Company retiring in 1982. He was a founder in 1970 of the Rotary Club of the Bridgewaters and served as a past president in 1980-81. John realized the
importance of joining an organization involved in local, regional, and world affairs. He was honored as a Rotary Paul Harris Fellow contributing money to help eradicate polio and for other Rotary worldwide projects. He also served as chairman of the Brockton Old Colony YMCA Youth Committee. John was an active communicant of St. Patrick Church and a 25 year member of its St. Vincent de Paul Society serving as president for many years. He passed away on January 12, 2010 at age 85. Beatrice A. (Clifton) Rogers of Brockton was a 1941 graduate of Brockton High School and became a licensed hairdresser. She was an honorary member of the Rotary Club of the Bridgewaters and was honored as a Paul Harris Fellow.
Bea and John were very involved in club activities which included fundraisers for the support the club gives to the local communities and to worldwide projects. Bea was an active communicant and volunteer at St. Patrick Church. She loved children, sewing, cooking, swimming, and her art classes. Bea and John were the
parents of five sons, three daughters, and eleven grandchildren. Bea passed away on January 17, 2010 at age 86.
