Interact Club

Interact gives students ages 12-18 the chance to make a real difference while having fun. Every Interact club carries out two service projects a year: one that helps their school or community and one that promotes international understanding.

About us

The Spruce Grove Composite High School Interact Club is now over 20 members strong.
Abigail Smith, Maddison Whiting and Melanie El Hafid form the core leadership group as members of the club executive.
Their awareness video on Malala Yousafzi and her foundation was a great success and has been show to all of the Grade 10 students in 2013-2014 and to Rotary audiences around the province.
Most recently 5 members of the club attended the RYLA awards and Rotary District 5370 Conference where they met and learned from Craig Kielburger, the founder of Me to We.
The club members are excited for this year’s slate of service activities that kicks off with a Halloween event entitled We Scare Hunger for the Parkland Food Bank.
Members Kira Gawenus and Alana Tollenaar are taking the lead on this project and captivated the local Rotary Club with their presentation of the project on Oct. 23.
Big thanks go out to Mme. Fortier and Mrs. Stewart, the two staff sponsors for the club, who have been very supportive in helping the Interactors get organized.
Stay tuned for more Interact activities before Christmas and into the new year!

SGCHS Interact students attended the YEG Volunteer Fair on April 11 at the West Edmonton Mall as they look for new and creative ways to put service above self!
“It was a very productive experience; we met with lots of local organizations and talked with some great people. I think the opportunities we came across will be of interest to Interact Club and overall, it was a very useful experience,” said Interactor Alana Tollenaar.
Look for the Interactors doing the 50/50 at Lobsterfest and possibly the joining our Club at the Life and Leisure Show in May.

A huge thanks to the Rotary Club of Spruce Grove for allowing us this wonderful opportunity to participate in the 5370 District Conference. We have gained a lot of knowledge and now understand how to better ourselves as a club. We intend to apply the principles we have learned at the conference to our own Interact Club. As well, it definitely brought the five of us closer and we are ready to take challenges on together!
