Upcoming speakers...

1.  Thursday, May 18     Damon Tarrant, Outgoing Student Exchange

2.  Thursday, May 25     Lobsterfest Planning!!!!

3.  Thursday, June 1      Interact, Visitation, 2:45 PM, Spruce Grove Composite High School.  After some discussion over time which included the difficulty of the Interact Youth attending a lunch meeting at the Grove Motor Inn, someone suggested we have a visitation to their place, of course the High School.  Great idea.  Then...the best time for them turned out to be 2:45 PM.  So we decided to change up our schedule and have the meeting at the High School. Judy K has arranged that we can park at the United Church across the road as parking is terrible on site. Secondly we will not be having lunch but snacks will be available.  We decided to give this plan a shot understanding some may not be able to attend due to the change.  It will be great to have a meeting with them.  They are making the arrangements.

District Conference Report, May 4.
I was unable to attend but Chris gave me a 15 min. video of the highlights.  Here is my translation primarily for those not able to hear the original presentation and discussion.

Highlights...my translation...

1.  Ready for this...fun

2.  Our girls of the world.  If girls do not have school education or health education by 12 they are doomed.  Their kids are doomed and the pattern repeats.
Check, www.girlseffect.org.  Sounds like the/our Amarok project is on the right path for this.  The Amarok Society provides education for approximately 125 youth while teaching their mothers to be teachers for $10 000.00 per year.  Less than $100.00 per student per year.  My understanding is that education in Africa costs up to $1000.00 per student per year and education in Parkland County costs about $11 000.00 per student per year.  Amarok Society is a pretty good deal from a bang for the buck consideration.  Certainly all efforts in all corners of the world are worthwhile.

3.  Leadership.  Leadership is not only changing the world but being the best we can be right here every day.  Drew Dudley, Ted Talks, Toronto.  Google it if you have not heard it.  He says...Create Lollypop Moments...daily.
