SPRUCE GROVE SKATE PARK

The Stony Plain Reporter/Grove Examiner published an article (April 18th) about improvements made recently to the Spruce Grove Skate Park located behind Central Park. Unfortunately, the report did not include any of the following important points of recognition:
 
  • The Rotary Club of Spruce Grove contributed greatly to this project, despite the fact that the small recognition given us on the commemorative sign (see right) no longer stands.
  • The park was built thanks to fundraising efforts (about $10,000) by Boston Pizza (Rotarian Janice Scalzo and Joe Scalzo).
  • The cement was donated by Inland Concrete Ltd. (thanks to John Moquin).
  • John Moquin chaired this project.
  • The park was formally opened in the fall of 2000.
  • Recent modifications were not made in consultation with our Club.
 
Hopefully, this information helps answer the implied question from this quote in the article:  "The quality of the construction (was) good.  Whoever built it took time to make sure the concrete was well done."
