International Service Committee Focus for 2015-2016

  1. To be congruent with Rotary International Objectives as previously listed.
  1. To support the Spruce Grove rotary Club with their primary focuses for 2015-16
Historically has focused on the Rotary International Objectives of:
-Basic education and literacy
-Maternal and child health
The International Services Committee will support the Spruce Grove Rotary towards their goals that have been previously listed.
  1. Our committee’s local focus:
  • to support international projects with some special attention to ventures that:
    1. have the following program qualities
i.  include long term projects where the development of a        relationship/partnership may develop
ii. have a definite purpose in comparison to providing funds for general operation
iii. are projects of a larger nature, ie $5 000 to $10 000 in comparison to $1 000 to $5 000
iv. have as an important element the inclusion of local citizens, the ability of local citizens to participate whether abroad or at home
v. have visibility in local community
 
  1. have the following management qualities
i.have demonstrated accountability and have some project planning
ii.have the ability to access matching grants
iii.have possibility of local sustainability
 
  1. have consideration of joint Rotary Club involvements
i.other Rotary Clubs supporting project, not with joint planning
ii.working in partnership with other District 5370 clubs or other or North American clubs in a joint effort
iii.working with a Rotary Club in the receiving country or locality of project.

Bahia Rotary Club
  Brad Mastaler going to Bahia, Ecuador in late March to meet
  with local Rotary Club and review original proposal
  1. Amarok Society                                                                      $9 700.00                             $9 700.00
Supports a school in Bangladesh which teaches 25 to
30 slum mothers to go back and teach their children
and neighbours children in own homes.  Education of
children and empowerment of women primary objectives.
 
  1. HUSA, Human Sympathy Association                                       $2 500.00                                    00.00
HUSA supports a centre in Tanzania for orphaned and
vulnerable children. Led by Sarah Pollock brought
up in our area and now residing in Edmonton.  Will review
project next month.
  1. Disaster Relief                                                                           $3 000.00                             $1 500.00
Supported UNICEF Food for Children of Syria program.
Federal Government matched funds.
