On April 24, 2019, 66 college scholarships ranging in size from $1,000 to $5,000 were awarded to seniors graduating from Desert View or Sunnyside High Schools. Tucson Kino Rotary Club presented a scholarship to Yazmin Kotzambasis from Sunnyside High School. These annual scholarships are managed by the Sunnyside District Alumni Association in partnership with a national program of Scholarship America called Dollars for Scholars.

Ms. Kotzambasis is planning to attend Pima Community College in Tucson. She will be studying to be a paralegal with a minor in Spanish. She attended the Scholarship Reception with members of her family and was presented a Certificate of Achievement from Tucson Kino Rotary President, John Palacio.

A number of Tucson Kino Rotarians are involved with the Sunnyside District Alumni Association. Karen Barrera is Vice President and a Director. Fil Barrera is a Director. Raul and Chris Bejarano, along with Karen and Fil served on the Scholarship Selection Committee choosing the 66 student winners from over 200 applicants. Raul and Chris also awarded and introduced each Scholarship to the students.  And, of course, Buck Crouch is President of the Sunnyside Governing Board.

Also attending from KinoRotary were Monique Soria, Debra Haddock, David and Joan Fawcett.

Tucson Kino Rotary is proud to award this scholarship each year and is proud of its members who donate so much time and resources to this great program to help senior students reach their college and career goals.
