Interested in joining the Rotary Club of Slave Lake?
Membership is by invitation only so you do not apply for membership but instead have a current member propose your name.

HOW CAN I BECOME A MEMBER?
Membership is by invitation only, so prospective members do not “apply” for membership but must be proposed by a current member.  Contact an existing local Rotarian to express your interest in joining. We would love to hear from you!

MEMBERSHIP PROCESS:
Sponsoring members will submit membership proposals at the first meeting of each month. The club will discuss the new member's acceptance and if no objection is made, the prospective individual will be invited to audit two meetings to determine if he/she feels the Club is a good fit.   The new individual will then complete the appropriate membership documents regarding contact information and interests; pay the current membership dues if there are any and apply for the records check from the RCMP.

REQUIREMENTS:
Prospective members must:
  • Hold (or be retired from) a professional, proprietary, executive, or managerial position, paid or voluntary.
  • Meet the membership dues and fundraising goals and obligations of the club. Currently our local club has waived membership dues. Have the capacity to meet the club’s attendance or community project participation requirements.
  • Have the desire and willingness to commit to represent Rotary in the standards identified in “Four-Way test” of Rotary.
  • Live or work within the locality of the club or the surrounding area and commit to fully participate in bettering the community through Rotary.
  • Acquire an RCMP records check and keep it updated as required.

ORIENTATION PROCESS:
The orientation program for new members will involve at least one session where new members are introduced to the history, principles, and activities of Rotary, including the special features of our club. All new members (even those who have previously belonged to other Rotary clubs) will be encouraged to attend.  New members will be asked to complete an interest inventory, to help identify areas of strength or aptitude for future events and projects.
In addition, a new member may be linked to a "buddy" in the club that can help navigate Rotary procedures and see that the new member is not left out of activities.

Through Rotary’s various service programs, a Rotary club can have a significant effect on the quality of life in its community. Globally, Rotary Clubs help to eradicate polio, train more skilled peacemakers, and provide lasting solutions for communities fighting disease, hunger, illiteracy, and poverty.

Through the Rotary community, you can build lifelong friendships with people who share your passion for service.  By adding your skills, experience, and enthusiasm to your club, you can advance communities at home and on a global scale.  You can make Rotary stronger, rewarding and fun.
