Would you like to be a Friend of Rotary and help out at various events?

Do you like the work Rotary does and would like to help but don’t have the time to become a member or belong to a club?  If so, then being a Friend of Rotary may be for you.   Our Friends of Rotary require no commitments whatsoever.
Cards & Chocolate for Seniors!
Rotarians delivered over 275 Christmas cards and chocolates to seniors in the Slave Lake region in December, 2023.  This three-way partnership began during Covid when so many seniors were confined to their homes.   The deliveries were enjoyed by the seniors so much that each year the Rotary Club of Slave Lake continues to deliver cheer to many, many seniors!

Students from CJ Schurter School (Kindergarten to grade 3) and EG Wahlstrom school (grades 4-6) drew pictures, made cards, and sometimes created special crafts for the local seniors. The Rotarians then hand delivered the cards along with chocolates to over 200 seniors in the community. Deliveries are made at Easter, Halloween and Christmas. The cards bring a smile to many seniors and to Rotarians who love to hand deliver them!
Color Fun Run & BBQ   Saturday, April 29, 2023
The Color Fun Run is a five-kilometer, untimed family friendly event. Whether you run, walk, or dance across the finish line, participants will celebrate completing their happiest 5 km run. At each kilometer mark, Color Runners are doused from head to toe in colored powder and while most participants wear white at the starting line, everyone  finishes plastered in color!

The event held on Saturday, April 29 was a huge success!!   185 participants were covered in a rainbow of colours, in fact over 175 pounds of color powder was thrown at walkers.   When participants crossed the finish line, the fun continued with a Bar-b-que, music, photos and more color throws!

The Rotary Club of Slave Lake and Legacy Child Care Society were proud to host this community event.
