NAUSET ROTARY STATEMENT ADOPTS REVISED VISION STATEMENT

The Nauset Rotary Club members are a local group of Rotarians who are neighbors, business owners and employees brought together to help others who need assistance with their everyday challenges. The club leverages their Rotary pledge of "Service Above Self" by supporting other local organizations with hands on participation and funding where possible, striving to help those in need. The club is currently engaged in projects that include but are not limited to:
Since last weeks meeting, three of our members have tested positive for Covid (Jen, Jon & Bruce). As a result President Jon has agreed to cancel this weeks meeting. Our next meeting will be on January 9th.

Enjoy the Holidays with your families!
Our Nauset Rotary Club recently partnered with the Falk Foundation and the YMCA of the Dominican Republic to help fund a pre-school         project in the community of Don Gregorio.

Nauset Rotary matched a $5,000 contribution from the Falk Foundation to help establish and fund the first year of  operations for the pre-            school.

At one of her first public appearances as the Orleans Town Manager, Kimberly Newman met with members and friends of the Nauset Rotary Club at their weekly meeting on August 22nd. Newman is Orleans first full-time town manager for more than 26 years.

Newman, a Rhode Island native, comes to the Cape Cod municipal administration post from Mendon, Massachusetts, where she served for nine years as that town's first Town Manager. Prior to being hired in Mendon, Newman spent four years as city administrator in Lyndon, Kansas. From 2005-2010, she was assistant town administrator in Killingly, Connecticut, and before that she worked as a budget analyst in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

"Mathematicians Side Hustles", a cultural and historical talk about contributions some mathematicians have made to other endeavors.
Harold has been a speaker at Nauset Rotary Club meetings in the past. And this proves to be as interesting and entertaining as his other topics.
Harold graduated magna cum laude in applied mathematics from Harvard University and earned his Ph. D. in mathematics from MIT. He is currently a Professor of Mathematics at Texas A&M University and among his many shining moments as an educator, he is a Fellow of the American Mathematical Society and a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

Thanks to our "summer Rotarian", Heidi Boas, here's a short video snippet of Harold's talk.

Approximately 30 Rotarians and friends participated in our virtual wine tasting event on December 10th enjoying some on-line fellowship (and the wine)! A link to a brief video of the event is included in the download files  (lower left side of our home page).
On October 20th our members enjoyed an online program "Fundraising for Small Non-Profits" presented by consultant Moira Noonan-Kerry. She led a lively discussion and presented several suggestions toward successful fundraising initiatives.
The Nauset Rotary Club has long supported the Homeless Prevention Council located in Orleans. Their Backpack to School Program has been partially funded by donations to the club’s GoFundMe page at: https://gf.me/u/ypavfy
On Tuesday September 1st backpacks loaded with school supplies, masks and hand sanitizers, were distributed at the  Nauset Middle School to client families with the help of several Rotarians.  Additional donations are still needed to help defray the cost of this program in these difficult times.

Our Nauset Rotary Club is assisting the Homeless Prevention Council with their annual Backpack-to-School program again in 2020. Please consider a contribution  to help purchase back to school supplies including gift cards for sneakers and technology needs.  We are hoping to raise $5,000 for students attending the Nauset school system. Also, please share the Go Fund Me information link below with your contacts.

On March 3rd 2020 Nauset Rotary Club members enjoyed a presentation from Jennifer Falk regarding her work with the Falk Family Foundation in the Dominican Republic.
