Assistant District Governor addresses local Rotary Club

On November 19 Rotary Assistant District Governor, John Argue, of Yellowknife attended both the regular Noon hour Rotary meeting at the Sawridge McKenzie Room and also a special supper planning meeting that evening.

The Peace River Rotary Club is part of a pilot effort for longer-range planning that is being implemented across the District to enhance the work Rotary carries on. Argue, pictured with local Rotary President, Richard Rhodes, pointed out that Rotary is growing with great enthusiasm in many parts of the world. In spite of the fact that, while in North America Rotary is "aging" there still exists great opportunities to enlist younger members from our increasingly diverse communities. "These people are looking for the kind of meaningful service opportunities which Rotary can provide," the members were told. "All they need is to be asked."

The evening meeting produced a vision statement: "A broad-based club - the preferred choice of leaders - committed to providing service to local and world communities." A number of strategic target areas for enhancing the work and visibility of the local Rotary Club work were identified and will be implemented in the weeks and months ahead.
