Thank you Dawn for your great update and ask on the KidSport Leduc & County chapter this past Thursday, April 25th. KidSport provides grants to help cover the costs of registration fees so that all kids aged 18 and under in Leduc & Leduc County can play a season of sport.
First the Update: KidSport Leduc officially became the 40th KidSport chapter in Canada on October of 2022 and in their 1st year of existence helped out 120 kids which is unheard of in any chapter across the country. Dawn provided some interesting stats of the kids they assisted and served from the first year:
82 Males
38 Females
70 kids came from single parent homes
38 kids came from two parent homes
Number 1sport was hockey, funding 43 kids into the local hockey programs
The challenges they are facing this year is the Canadian Tire program Jumpstart has shut the doors on individual funding, thus creating a bigger strain on resources at KidSport.
The Ask(s): This year they are expecting 120+ participants for the Loop the Lake Fundraiser on May 11th on Telford Lake. They are looking for sponsorships for the participants of $250.00 per athlete. Dawn suggested that maybe the Club could consider sponsoring 4 athletes.
The other Ask was that they are looking for volunteers for the Loop the Lake event. If you are interested and available, go to their website and send them a note.
