We have had fewer contributions since our January benefit dinner although our expenses have increased with so many of our kids now attending college or university. For me it is the mark of success and a goal for every child that enters the casa hogar... to get the education that will give them opportunity and choices in life.

We have students studying to be an Architect, nutritionist, Business administrator, chef, dental technician, Medical Doctor,  logistic and export, and elementary teacher. Three college graduates (one as a Dr) and another student entering this August to also study nutrition. 

 

The only way we can do this is to have people who see the value of providing education for  those who would other wise be stuck in the mire of hopeless poverty and at great risk.

 

Every day I am more determined to help all these children! Our youngest child is three, she was brought to us by the social agency DIF after police found her wandering the streets. She was the only survivor of a family where her mother and baby brother were murdered in front of her. How she survived I don't know, but, she did.  Her story is not the only tragic story at the casa hogar. Each one of our children have a heart breaking story.
