Donating Indigenous Books

The Rotary Club of Jasper is proud to share an important project that has enriched our community. We purchased and donated a range of books focused on Indigenous themes and written by Indigenous authors. These books are meant for children, youth, and adults, and we've provided them to the Jasper Public Library. We showcased these books during the National Indigenous Peoples Day Celebration on June 21, and we also made sure to provide meals to the Indigenous elders who attended. By donating these books to the library, our Rotary Club is taking steps towards reconciliation by promoting the sharing of knowledge and understanding of different cultures. Thanks to Greg Fenton and Sue Cesco for their work during 2022-2023 to organise the program.

Adopt a School Alotenango

Thanks to Libby and Donnelly's great work, the Phase II of the Adopt a School Alotenango project in Guatemala is now featured on Rotary International's Project Showcase website. Being featured on the Showcase website can help promote the project to other potential partner Rotary Clubs. Interested members and clubs may also want to follow Bendicion de Dios on Facebook via: Ninos de Alotenango.

Rotary Citizenship Award

The Club provided Isabella Heinemann with a Citizenship Award to recognize her aptitude at living as a Rotarian would, answering to the 4 Way Test. In Isabella’s own words:
“Living by your truth means being honest with yourself and others about who you are and what you believe in. It takes courage to stand up for what you believe in, but doing so can help you live a more fulfilling life. When you live authentically, you inspire others to do the same. It's important to remember that everyone has their own truth, and that's okay. We can all learn from each other and grow together.”

We can all learn from this young promising person! Thanks to our 2022-2023 Youth Services Committee members Ben Keyes and Kiraya Spencer who made the Citizenship Award happen.
