As Rotarians the Jasper Rotary Club members regularly contribute our Talent, Time and Treasure to Create Hope in the World. Here are some examples of what we’ve been up to lately:
People who join Rotary want to have fun and serve their community.
Some people volunteer for all roles (gift of Time), some are more comfortable to donate (gift of Treasure) and yet others provide their skills (gift of Talent). It takes all three to make the wheel turn!

An Intimate Evening with Marc Garneau
In the words of Sue Cesco, the Honourable Marc Garneau put on a great show of Canada’s astronomical history, the importance of space exploration and Canada's accomplishments as well as stories of his space adventures. A lively audience came up with insightful questions, which all received thoughtful scientific response, providing an easy to understand display of Canadian achievements in space. No racoons here!
The MC, Sue Cesco, dazzled the crowd with confidence and ease, using a script of clever anecdotes and personal stories. The many helping hands, Cheryl, Kiraya, Donnelly, Val, Vicky and Laureen shone light on the teamwork of the club. The evening was stellar, with a lively live auction and a silent-on-line auction, raising the bar for fellowship and community spirit.
The auctioneer, Christopher Read, lit the stage and even with a smaller late-night crowd, bids brought the event over the $20,000 goal.
The evening was one for enlightenment, bright stars, and acts of kindness. This fall fundraiser event, led by Libby, Greg, Ralph, Ben and Hélène, in partnership with Jasper Dark Sky Festival is Jasper Rotary Club’s new bright star.
Heartfelt thank you to everyone for all the support you provided. All the wheels clicked together to develop and create this dazzling dream. Thank you for being the light and creating hope!

The Rotary Club is providing funds to purchase the pumpkins and will also provide a financial donation to the Food Bank for a total of $3000. These funds have been matched by a District Grant.
Shelter Box
Why wait for disaster ? Providing ShelterBox is an action our Rotary Club has embraced for many years, however, making this a program, not a project will mean that we intend to provide every year in case of emergency, rather than wait for it to happen and then react. This will allow us to reduce the time at decision making and know that our efforts will be there when the time comes. Thank you Bill for this great suggestion!
At any given time ShelterBox Response Teams are on the ground, supporting families to recover after disaster and conflict all over the world.
The Rotary Club of Jasper has purchased a Shelter Box for this year.
In preparation for our National Day of Truth & Reconciliation, the Rotary Club was delighted to welcome Theresa Westhaver, Indigenous Relations Representative for Parks Canada to our meeting. Theresa gave a history summary of Indigenous Communities. Did you know that when we say First Nations instead of Indigenous, we exclude some Indigenous communities? Theresa told us that the most inclusive term is Indigenous. We also learned how to say thank you in a few different languages. Thank you, Theresa, for this very informative, interesting, and positive outlook presentation!

Reading about Rotary
Do you receive your Rotary Magasine in the mail? If so, here is one for you: After reading your magasine, you can find a way to reuse it instead of recycling it! Do you know of a waiting room that could benefit from your magasine?
Bravo to Kiraya who has donated her copy to the Library. First Rotary Magazine reused! It now has a public spot at the library. Thanks to Kiraya for providing her magazine to the library on a regular basis. 🙂

Start at the Parking lot across the street from Nester's Grocery Store.
We will finish the walk at Hélène's house for a hot coco and cookies. For this event, everyone is asked to bring a friend.
