As Rotarians the Jasper Rotary Club members regularly contribute our Talent, Time and Treasure to Create Hope in the World. Here are some examples of what we’ve been up to lately:
Lobsterette 2024!
The crew of chefs boiled up a pot full of fun.
Special thanks for Paul for watching the pots, and Sandra, Val & Laurie for tackling the whacking. Cheryl, Vicki & Danielle were servers extraordinaire. Sue was the runner, hauling all the gear.
Great fun was had by all, except for the lobsters. We ate those. Happily. Seniors week is always such a favorite time for us to go spend a few hours with the Alpine Summit gang. We appreciate the invitation to come and provide serving and cooking help for this event.

A Heartfelt Thank You for Volunteering at the Banff-Jasper Relay
The first on-course support crew made up of Libby, Greg, Val and Fred, embarked on their journey from Jasper at the break of dawn, leaving Jasper at 4 am to reach Saskatchewan Crossing. Followed quickly after by Laurie, Cheryl, Gary Bookock, Wendy and Glen Liech. Their early start and commitment were crucial in setting up the departure point for the race, laying the groundwork for what turned out to be a day filled with camaraderie, determination, and achievement. Not too long after, Hugh, Vicky, Chris, Dwain and Peter made it up the road to set up relay #3 station. Then Ben, Hélène, Sue and Alan were joined by Magda and Mark Mahler to form the station #4. The leapfrogging was then in place for the first team to reach Beauty Creek. Some volunteers joined in through out the day: Janet Fréchette, Heather Wall, Sara, Mario Hermida and École Desrochers’ Graduating Class Charles Ederle, Shanti Langevin and her dad Paul Langevin.
Despite the quick learning curve and the chilly morning temperatures, everyone’s positive and creative spirit shone brightly. Your roles were varied and vital—from manning checkpoints and noting race times to offering words of encouragement and ensuring the safety of all participants. Each task, no matter how big or small, contributed significantly to the overall success of the event.
The entire race ran smoothly and concluded successfully by 8:00 pm. The organizers have expressed their profound gratitude to our Rotary Club. Multisport Canada has extended an enthusiastic invitation for us to participate again next year, a testament to the impact of our collective efforts. This invitation is a reflection of your hard work, and we should all take pride in this recognition.
Indigenous Book Project
Thank you to Kiraya, Bill, Cheryl, Christopher, Dwain, Greg, Val and Sue for your time and efforts to make the National Indigenous Day Celebration Event at Robson Park a beautiful and informative event. The partnership with the Jasper Municipal Library and Friends of Jasper National Park, makes our Indigenous Books Project a tangible action on the path to reconciliation with First Nation and Metis communities with historic, traditional, and cultural connections to Jasper National Park. Your dedication and hard work both on the day of the event and throughout the entire year have made a significant impact, and it is heartwarming to see the circulation of these books not only in Jasper but across our entire region.
Hi! from the Rotary Club of Jasper Alabama!
On June 22, Suzanne Snow and her son Winston, from Jasper Alabama, met with Hélène for a few minutes in the lobby of the Tonquin Inn. Suzanne and Winston were visiting Jasper, Alberta and took the time to connect and exchange Rotary Flags on behalf of their Rotary Club President Mr. Paul Kennedy. President Kennedy invited us to do a joint meeting in the near future. Stay tuned!

As my term as president comes to a close, I am filled with gratitude and pride for the journey we have undertaken together of over the past year. Serving you as president has been a privilege and an honor, and I am deeply grateful for the trust and support you have placed in me.
Together, we have achieved so much! Together, was the theme of the 'Turn Over' that was held a little earlier this year to accomodate Kiraya's needs. We have organized impactful community service projects, supported local charities, and made a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need. We have strengthened bonds of friendship and fellowship among our members, and we have upheld the values of Rotary in everything we do.
But our work is far from over. As I pass the torch to the incoming president, Kiraya Spencer, I urge all of you to continue the incredible work that we do as the Rotary Club of Jasper. Let us remain committed to service above self and to making a positive impact in the world, in our community and in ourselves.
I have every confidence that under the leadership of our incoming president, Kiraya, the Rotary Club will continue to thrive and grow, making an even greater difference in the lives of others.
Thank you for the opportunity to serve as your president. It has been a joy and I look forward to continuing to work along side each and everyone of you.
