Terry Fox Run a True Success!
The annual Terry Fox Run was held at Muskoseepi Park on Sunday, September 14, 2008. This year's goal was to raise participation and awareness in the event. We met with great success. In total there were 153 attendees - 128 participants and 25 volunteers. To date, our great community has raised $8,484.50 towards this noble cause. Final numbers will not be available from the Foundation until early 2009. Factored into the Grande Prairie numbers will be the School Run Day and Terry Fox Works Day.
All in all, it was a lovely day! Special thanks to all committee members, volunteers, sponsors, and participants. In addition, special mention should be made to Claire Pearson for all her help and knowledge regarding planning the event and the Friday Club for their assistance with the hot dog roast. The weather was bright and sunny, and the kindred spirit of all volunteers and participants certainly holds true our City slogan, "Grande Prairie is the greatest place to be"!.
