The Swan City Rotary Club in Grande Prairie, Alberta, Canada has been working on international projects throughout Chile since 2002. They have successfully partnered with the Rotary Club of Arauco and Rotary Club of Lota in Chile, as well as Alberta's Wildrose Foundation and Rotary International to improve the standard of living in Chile. Projects include the funding of a vocational school and upgrading of a senior's facility in Arauco, Chile, just 45 minutes from the epicentre of the earthquake. On February 28, 2010, an 8.8 magnitued earthquake hit the country leaving hundreds deald and over 1.5 Million people displaced. The Club is helping to collect funds to assist in the rebuilding of damaged and lost infrastructure in Chile as well as assisting the victims of the disaster. Miguel Lopez, Swan City Member, is heading the drive and kicked off the campaign on Monday at 5:00pm with a Press Release at Centre 2000.
