Up and on our way at 0830 from Beaver, Utah we found ourselves weaving through some canyons and mountainous areas and viewing some gorgeous scenery. Beaver is 6600 ft above sea level and by the time we got to Mesquite,

Nevada we were at 1600 ft above sea level. Finally we were starting to get some warmer weather. We stopped here for gas and coffee, but Ray Grenier had to play the slot machines in the gas station while we were refuelling. Next was lunch in Las Vegas, but as we weren't going to stay here overnight this year, we stopped at a hiway Denny's restaurant. This was Ken Loudon's and Murray's (from Edson)first time in Vegas, so how's that for hitting the highlights, but Ken got to see the largest Cover-All building in North America as we rounded a corner on an overpass. The freeway took us around the eastern edge of Vegas and we could see the big strip hotels in the distance. Then it was on through the desert to Needles, California for fuel and a Dairy Queen break. We ended this portion of the trip in Lake Havasu City, Arizona at the decent time of 1700 hrs. We were able to walk to London Bridge for some quick site-seeing and had supper overlooking the bridge and the water area of this city. Nice and relaxing. We had a great day today without any problems, except that we heard about our other ambulance having more mechanical problems. Just out of Twin Falls, Idaho their vehicle quit. They were rescued by a mechanically inclined man who helped them get spark plug wires and a coil to get them on their way. We are still expecting them to catch up to us by tomorrow in Nogales, Arizona.
