Day 3, on the road again. Yesterday we traveled 640 km, most was up hill thru the different Montana passes. Bright and early Vivian and Tracey ventured off and found Starbucks and made it back in time for 8 am departure. It was clear sailing as we concurred the Minita Pass, elevation of 6870 feet. We continue to stay in assigned order on Interstate 15. Due to the Red Fire Truck we stay at a cons...istent speed of 85-90 km/hour. CB radios, provided by Morad Communications out of Edson, are great as it improved communications with longer range. Early afternoon we crossed into Idaho where one of the trucks was redecorated, see picture.

Traveling thru Salk Lake City was a wild adventure as about 50 miles of the freeway is under construction. The biggest challenge was when some areas had extremely narrow lanes. With the roadway width narrow and still 4 and 5 lanes at times, there were close encounters of the semi kind.

After we left the crazy construction area, it was exciting to see the fields and sage brush showing a bit of green and warmer weather.

Our chief, Allan has th e daily routine well-structured and organized as keeping 12 Rotarians focused can be an adventure off its own. There has been discussion that cows may be magnetically orientated as Bob and Rick believe that there is a pattern that when cattle are feeding, they are facing north. Verification of this theory would be greatly appreciated.

Thank goodness for Mike’s in ability to smell as he missed the big feedlot.

The ambulance that Allan and Jerry are driving came from Alberta Health Services in Grande Prairie. As it is a 1999 and came from a good home, it is in great shape. Just what is needed for the people of Mexico.

Allan has been part of this adventure since the beginning 10 years ago. We appreciate his commitment to the delivery of the many vehicles to Mazatlan and the surrounding communities. Allan continues to demonstrate Service Above Self.
Over 830 km were travelled today in 11 ½ hours with only quick fuel and restroom stops. Vehicles and drivers did very well. We are settling in Beaver Utah for the evening, then Vegas here we come!
