On Tuesday, September 14, 2010, over 625 volunteers and 125 vehicles participated in the anual Food Bank Drive. This type of participation was esential as twice this year, the Salvation Army Food Bank has ran out of staple foods, seeing a 40% increase of usage year over year from 2009. The evening drive resulted in the gathering of 102,000 food items, valued at approximately $172,000. The food will be put to good use as it is anticipated that demand for Christmas Hampers will be up from 600 to 800 this year, a 61% jump from 2009. Thank you to all of the volunteers who made this event such a success!
