An Opportunity for International Service

Rotary International District 5370 is inviting service oriented teachers and Professional Development (PD) leadersto apply for an exciting international program in Belize.  PD facilitators (24) will travel to and work in Belize for 2 weeks during the summer months of 2009 and 2010.  This opportunity involves a two year commitment to coach and guide a cohort of teachers in one of eight district centers in Belize .  The Belizean teachers have been selected by the Belize Ministry of Education and will be expected to facilitate professional development with their own colleagues in Belize in the areas of Language Arts, Mathematics and Science (Elementary/Junior High level).

 

In addition to preparing the Belizean teachers to facilitate PD with their colleagues, Rotary program teachers will be requested to assist the Belizean teachers as they work with and facilitate PD with their colleagues.  It is hoped that communication and collaboration between Belize facilitators and the Rotary program teachers will continue throughout the year via email and video conferencing.  The ultimate goal is capacity building in Belize through education.
