GG Proposal: Floating Garden Water Filter for Sampaloc Lake. Local Host: RC San Pablo City D3820

Project Overview -  Floating Garden Filter in Sampaloc lake
Program Goal: Promote low-cost, low-tech, and natural ways to improve water quality using Floating Garden Filters in Sampaloc Lake. The greater vision for Sampaloc Lake is to protect and sustain its ecological balance by improving its water quality through the regulation of aquaculture operation and other activities in the lake, control, and management of all sources of pollution (both solid and liquid) and silt from the lake basin, and promotion of synergy on the multi-use of the lake water where aquaculture, tourism, and other potential uses can co-exist where there is no preferred dominant use. It also aspires to provide sustainable livelihood to the community, particularly for the fisherfolk. However, measures should be initiated for the fast recovery of the lake through environment-friendly and nature-based solutions (NBS). NBS is defined as actions to protect, sustainably manage, and restore natural or modified ecosystems that address societal challenges effectively and adaptively, and simultaneously provide human well-being and benefits.
