Rotary Fort St John Weekly Update

Last Meeting: Thursday, July 18th, 2013.
Thursday was an excellent meeting as we had the chance to go over the Treasurer’s report from Ross before he handed over duties to Scott Wisdahl. A big thank you to Ross for stepping up in our time of need and a big thank Scott for taking over Treasurer duties for the upcoming year. Overall it was an excellent year for the club with all three fundraisers generating solid returns. The club ends the year with roughly 135,000 in the bank and one major commitment outstanding of 50,000 for the Rotary Skate Park. One minor note is that winners of the weekly 50/50 will be paid out for the last 18 months in the next few weeks, if you were a winner and not included in the list discussed at the meeting, please contact Ross.
Last Executive Meeting
Last executive meeting was on July 24th, 2013. Highlights include 1) a long treasurer’s report as we went over the last year’s results 2) discussion of our project(s) for the upcoming year 3) planning for the upcoming club assembly which will take place in September.

New Member Update
Now that it has been a little bit since he welcome his first child into this world, Laurence Wang has decided he would like to move forward as a member of our club. We will be having the induction ceremony in 2-3 weeks time.
Fort St John Rotary Link of the Week

2013 District Conference (repetition is good)
The 2013 District Conference will be hosted by the Rotary Club of Edmonton Glenora on October 4th and 5th. As a club, I would like to encourage everyone that can to register online at
http://www.conference5370-2013.ca and attend the district conference. It has been a number of years since we have had a strong contingent at a district conference and lets make this the year that we change it. If you are interested, please contact Michael Elphinstone and we can try and coordinate travel plans for the event as I will be attending.
Next Rotary Meeting
Next Meeting is Thursday, August 1st, 2013 at 12PM at Quality Inn Northern Grande. Guest Speaker will be Bruce Lantz from the Northern Lights Recovery Centre speaking about their upcoming project.
