2012 FSJ Rotary Mother's Day 5K Run and Walk

Rotary is a worldwide organization of business and professional leaders that provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, and helps build goodwill and peace in the world.  Approximately 1.2 million Rotarians belong to more than 32,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas.

Throughout the years, we have hosted the Rotary Community Mega Lottery, as a tool for individual clubs to use to raise funds and awareness for their organizations.  We have raised and distributed hundreds of thousands of dollars amongst dozens of local clubs from Fort St. John, Taylor, Fort Nelson and Dawson Creek over the past seven years.

This year we are hosting our inaugural Mother’s Day 5K Run and Walk, or as we have come to refer to it, our Rotary MD5K.  This is a community event and fundraiser to promote healthy family activity, while raising awareness for Rotary.  The event features a 5 kilometer family fun run and walk, as well as a 1 kilometer kid dash.  There will be prizes, food and refreshments.  The run and walk will be followed by a barbeque hosted by The Rotary Club of Fort St. John, where the participants and their families can enjoy the food, the awards ceremony, and the fun!

As the event takes place on Mother’s Day, we have chosen the Fort St. John Women’s Resource Society to receive $2 from every entry, as well as the net proceeds from the event.
