Queen Bev Stupek started the day out by making her daughter (and guest) Lauren lead the Happy Birthday song for all August birthdays.

A Queen/Presidential citation was awarded to Keith Ritter from Rotary International for making children safer through RER's support last year.

Two new members were inducted by Jim Salini.  Welcome to Pat Beasley, Civil Law and sponsored by Jerry Peters and Randall Hempling, Hospital Administration, sponsored by John Oakes.  Pat has lived in Redding for 34 years and this is his first Rotary club.  Randall has lived in Redding for six months and this is his sixth Rotary club.

Our foreign exchange student from Brazil arrives on Tuesday, August 11th at 4:40 p.m. at the ReddingAirport.  The more Rotarians there to welcome him the better!

The Flea Market exceeded expectations.  Big thanks to Allyn Clark and Steve Hagenbaugh.  There was some risqué poster donated by Marge Beck that she paid a whopping $200 to get back so no one could ever see it. It must have been really bad!

The update on John Birmingham is good and he's still scheduled to come home on April 19th.

Don't forget the picnic on Saturday at Jerry Peter's home.  Big thanks to Jerry and Jim Murphy for hosting and sponsoring the shin dig.  Also, big thanks to Steve Roberts and the Liberty football team for helping to set up.

More help is needed on August 15th and 16th at the Terry Quibell Ticket Booth.  The grand opening of the booth will be in September, date to be announced.

Steve Hagenbaugh encouraged everyone to attend the District Conference on October 2 - 4, 2009 at Harvey's in Tahoe.  It's very seldom held in a fun place, so everyone should take advantage of it.  There is also no registration fee.

Don Brooks claimed his $44.17 fine was the second one he has paid for his trip to Alaska.

Don Selke commended Queen Bev for finishing her first Rotary project, the ticket booth, in only 19 days in office.  Mr. Brooks went on to tell Bev that she is a TIC, "totally into caring" type president.  She was thrilled until he finished by telling her that she was more than a queen, more like a goddess.  A moon goddess or Luna, which when combined with TIC makes her a LUNATIC!  Clever.

RECOGNITIONS:  Shannon Phillips went on a vacation with 19 family members and spent six days, five nights in Happy Camp. For the wonderful family memories she was fined $53.62.

Jerry Peters paid $17.63 for spending time in Sun River with his daughter and grand children.

A blatant advertisement for a condo in Hawaii cost retired dentist, Dennis Mihalka, $118.22 and $100 to his Paul Harris.  Queen Bev tried for $7,000, but with no commitment form on hand she just couldn't pull that off.

The Grindstaff's went to Seattle, a 10 hour trip in the car with a four year old and Bev still fined Cathy $33.33.

The most outstanding news of the day cost Shanna Cannon $78.42.  Seems Shanna and her husband are expecting twins!  CONGRATULATIONS!

Charlie Clinkenbeard is celebrating 63 years of marriage and paid 63 cents.

Don't forget to sell your Ducky Derby tickets.  Each member should sell 20 ducks.  Les Melburg's team received 750 points for printing the Ducky Derby posters and Denise Yergenson's team received 500 points for the design.

The 50/50 spin was up to $224.  Lauren Stupek won $10 of the pot.

Our speaker for the day was Judy Menoher, wife of president elect Charlie Menoher and a professor at NationalUniversity.  She spoke about the rigors of receiving a teaching credential.

The gift of four Cinemark tickets plus refreshments was won by Marge Beck!
