Meeting Called to Order by President-Elect Allyn Clark

Team #2: Top Rank (Glenn Rank)

-          Person responsible wasn't present with the drawing prize so Glenn donated $20 out of his own pocket.  Ouch!

-          "Honorary Team Member" Sue Metcalfe who unselfishly volunteered to help with the 50/50 raffle

Announcements:

-          Les Melburg shared that Frank Strazzarino's wife Carol is in ICU with bleeding on the brain.

-          Tom Price reminded folks of the Golf Tournament 6/11/11 on the Palo Cedro course.  Lunch will be at noon.

-          RER was reminded that Carl Wilhelm Stenhammer (Rotary Foundation) will be in the area Thursday April 28th.

-          Chris Haedrich has agreed to fill the RER Board Secretary vacated by Anna Bengtsson, who is moving to Oregon.

Visiting Rotarian: Joe Iyer (sp??)

Guests: Al Boren (Shasta Family YMCA, Executive Director); Krista (Frank Consulting); Kate Bourland (Social Media Butterflies); Carla Barrett (Institute of Technology); Jenni Middleton (Kid's Turn)

Community Builder: Barbara White introduced this weeks Community Builder, Jenni Middleton.  Jenni has been the Executive Director of Kids Turn Shasta/Cascade for 15 of the 16 years the non-profit has been in the north state.  Jenni is a licensed MFT, is involved with her daughter's musical interests at Shasta High, has hosted numerous exchange students, enjoys traveling and is involved with the local chapter of AAUW.  Jenni graciously accepted her certificate and starfish from Allyn Clark and commented that being dubbed a Community Builder was a title she relishes.

Recognition:

Bill Hazeleur: has reportedly taken a loss on his antique sales to offset his income tax burden, for which he was fined.

Bill Brown: was fined a total of $75, $50 of which was for preparing tax returns and $25 for his cell phone disturbing the RER meeting.  To which Bill called out Bill Evanhoe ($50) for his CPA duties - and Jim Murphy ($50) and Allyn Clark ($50) for enjoying a respite from preparing tax returns!

Annie Purcell: fined $100 for showing up to a RER meeting (and for the joy of first-time home ownership).

50/50: Marge Beck was not the finder/keeper of a black marble.

Program: Shasta Family Justice Center

Angela Fitzgerald (Crime Victim Assistance Program Manager & SFJC Project Coordinator) and Michael Burke (SFJC Executive Director) gave a broad overview of the Center, whose funding comes from grants, sponsorships and donations.  Mike was quick to point out the Center does not compete with other local non-profits; instead, the Center acts as "one-stop shopping" for victims of abuse to access services.  Since September 2010, 951 guests have accessed services and over 60 volunteer hours PER WEEK are logged.  They gladly accept donations of any sort but can ALWAYS use reams of paper!
