ALLYN'S FIRST MEETING -

President Allyn Clark conducted her first meeting with Team 1 in the lead.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:  The Peters/Murphy Family Picnic is August 7th at the home of Jerry Peters.  Food, fun and family (Rotary Family too!).  Let Jerry Peters of Jim Murphy know if you plan on attending and how many in your party.

The District Awards banquet will be held in Corning on July 9th.

District Governor will visit on August 10th

RECOGNITION:  Apparently Milt Schultz attended a Northern Valley Catholic Social Services event and had his photo taken with another woman.  He claims Nancy know about it but paid $50 just the same.

George Sisterhenm made an appearance at Rotary so Allyn reminded him that he said about three years ago if she was ever president he would back her up.  So he’s good on his word.  At least for this week and for $50.

Redding Bank of Commerce opened another branch so Russ Duclos paid $100.

5-Star Bank was voted “Lender of the Year” by the Small Business Association so Eric Woodstrom paid $100.

The 50/50 chance winner was Brian Crume, who didn’t win the $180.

Allyn had the floor for the rest of the meeting and had some inspirational things to do and say.  She reminded us that Chad Thompson is the president elect and will be going to Rotary International in Bangkok for his conference.  She talked about why she joined Rotary and how going to Father/Daughter Day at Rotary with her dad was a highlight.

President Clark then had the club make a “cairn”, which is a marker made of stone that marks your trail through history.  The Team Leaders got up and said one word that Rotary meant to them and added a shell to the cairn.  She then called up the committee chairpersons for programs that benefit youth and others whose parents were at one time a Rotarian.  She emphasized that we are all “Rotarians Raising Rotarians” in one way or another.

She introduced the board of directors and the team captains, talked about our plans for the year and reminded everyone to complete their commitment forms.  We are ready for another great year!

Kurt Mitchell won the gift and we all went on our way in record Rotary meeting time!  Hope she keeps that track record up!
