The 'Dirty Hands' is an ongoing project for Rotarians and youth to travel internationally and get their hands dirty improving the lives of others.

Goals and Objectives

  1. Opportunity for both Rotarians and Edson youth to travel together internationally (learn travel skills, advance international understanding, goodwill, and peace).
  2. Opportunity for both Rotarians and Edson youth to become immersed in true poverty and manual labour.
  3. Opportunity for both Rotarians and Edson youth to gain construction and project management skills.
  4. Opportunity for long-term improvement (water well, school, clinic, playground, etc) to an developing community.
  5. Edson is the primary Canadian club.

2 weeks of travel annually

The Rotary Club raises funds for the capital improvements (approximately $10,000) and to cover its own travel expenses. Edson youth raise funds for their own travel expenses, approximately $3,000 per student, through various fundraisers. Each participant (Rotarian or youth) is expected to donate some of their own money toward the project.

2022 Update

This year 2 Rotarians and 6 youth will travel in early July to restore the drinking water to an indigenous village in Mindoro, Philippines.
