  • Welcome to Interact Students from BHS!!!Thanks to Warren for making the Interact Sign.  Students will mingle afterwards
  • 1 guest - - Mike from morning club
  • Uncorked is Thursday November 9th.  Current number for participants 530!!!  Good job on sales. Check the rosters that have been distributed, double check what you are signed up to do and help others.  Getting glasses from Red Lion on Wednesday.  Picking up tables and returning is organized.  $600.00 for wall of wine.  Typically want 20 winners.  Raffle tickets are $10.00/ticket 3/$20.00 10/$50.00.  Show up about 6:00 to help. Cash only for raffle tickets!!!
  • Annual Beaujolais Nouveau get together - - Nov. 16 any time after 6:30 at 12801 Woodview Court, BV.  Bring wine and a small amount of cheese and crackers!
  • Ethics - - Everything is organized for Ethics training at BHS on Thursday
  • Board meeting on Nov. 8th at 4:30!!
  • Nov. 17th   Keith play in Lakeville at 7:30. For Miracle on 34th street.
  • Dec 12th - - Feed my starving children 6:00 – 7:30!
  • Tone - - to Interact and things are going well with partnership between the clubs.  We are donating $200.00 for the club.  Looking forward to continuing work together.
 
 

Program

Welcome to Stella from Wallin Education Partners - - Working to close the college achievement gap.  Stella is a refugee from Bosnia and had lived in a refugee camp.  She came to the U.S. at age 14
Shared impact of scholarships on her life.  She joined Rotary last year - - The University of Minneapolis Rotary Club.  The club sponsored her application for Ambassador for Peace Scholarship.  Ambassador for Peace scholarship – a once in the lifetime opportunity focused on building peace through friendships.  Students choose country of choice for her it was Costa Rica.  There were Rotary clubs where she connected.  She shared her experience of working and studying there.
Received a master’s degree in International Peace Studies.
Stella also shared her story of ELL teacher and others encouraging her to pursue her dreams and get a higher education.  So, the Wallin Education Partners is a four-year scholarship program that helped mentor her through the whole process of continuing and achieving her college education.  By graduating, she was then connected to Rotary and furthering other possibilities for herself and others.
It's a college completion program focusing on low-income students combines:
  • Financial Aid - - carefully distributed
  • Advisor - - comprehensive one – on – one advising
  • College to Career Services
  • Graduation rate from four-year colleges = 93%
