We're full-speed ahead on a unique pilot project to spread the good news about Rotary.

Clubs in District 5950 have been invited to participate in a unique Rotary International pilot project designed to attract more young professionals to Rotary. Using social media and online networking, we’re hoping to educate people under age 40 about Rotary, as well as encourage them to visit our club websites, attend a meeting as a guest and, eventually, become a Rotarian.

Burnsville Rotary's PR Chairwoman Heather Voorhees has submitted our club's application for the project. If we're accepted, we will work with other clubs in our district to identify "influencers," i.e. people who have a large circle of online followers and friends. We'll then send those influencers updates on Rotary's international and local initiatives; they will share those messages with their followers, who will then be excited to learn more about Rotary. The pilot culminates in a social or charitable event, hosted by participating clubs, that will give interested young professionals face time with Rotarians and show them who and what we really are.

The project is receiving funding from Rotary International and professional resources and support from two marketing agencies: Zocalo Group, who specializes in online “word-of-mouth” marketing, and Schafer Condon Carter, creator of Rotary’s critically acclaimed, “This Close to Ending Polio” advertising campaign.
