Water Filters

The Filters for Families project will provide a water filter and buckets to about 200 families in the Colonia Volcanes community or similar community near Puerto Vallarta, Mexico that has been identified by the governmental water authority (SEAPAL) as having unsafe drinking water. This will be our first phase in a larger grant project by Rotary Club of Puerto Vallarta Sur to provide filters to families in community. Other communities where we anticipate filters to be distributed are Los Corrales and additional filters to Los Lobos and Los Llanitos. All are communities where the Puerto Vallarta Sur Rotary Club has an existing working relationship. With clean, safe drinking water, families will be able to work and attend school without the illnesses. Families currently pay as much as 20-25% of their income for clean water or lose substantial income and school days due to illness. As a result, the benefits to the greater community and to society in general, will be long term. Once the filters arrive in Puerto Vallarta, distribution can be accomplished in two weeks or as arranged with partner Rotary Clubs.
