Our speaker - Tamara Larson -- will introduce us to President Mehta's priority Empowering Girls Initiative
Tamara C Larson is the Zone 28 Ambassador Assistant, Empowering Girls Intiiative

Girls face many challenges across the world, including lack of education attainment and lack of sanitary facilities in schools. Barriers such as child marriage, pregnancy, domestic violence and abuse prevent smart, determined girls from staying in school. Educating and supporting the girls of our world can help lift families, communities, and entire countries out of poverty.

Rotary’s Empowering Girls initiative is a club-level service opportunity for Rotary year 2021-2022. The initiative encourages Rotary, Rotaract and Interact  club members to participate in service projects that focus on the health, education, safety, well-being and economic development of girls worldwide and address the inequities still present today. Learn how Empowering Girls aligns with Rotary's seven areas of focus and our Action Plan as well as how we can increase our impact that protect, empower, and create equity for girls and women locally, nationally, and internationally.

January 17 meeting is a joint HYBRID meeting with the Rotary Club of Edmonton.  Meeting will be held at the Chateau Lacombe and will be in-person and on line.  Registration is required.  Speaker, Dr. Bill Flanagan, President of the University of Alberta. - watch for registration details.
