About Our Club

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has."  (Margaret Mead).

Do you want to join a different kind of Rotary club?  Our Rotary club is a work-in-process and we are looking for members to help redefine what a Rotary club can do.  We are striving to reflect the diversity of North Sacramento and Del Paso Heights.  We serve one of the most disadvantaged communities in the region.  We are a Rotary club that really makes a difference in people's lives.

Our Rotary club is "a thing of beauty".  The Rotary Club of North Sacramento is redefining itself from the ground up.  We are exploring innovative ideas to make our club more attractive to younger members, more attractive to forward-looking business owners, managers and supervisors, and more attractive to professionals wanting to develop their leadership skills and create mentor relationships.  If you are a "hands on" volunteer who is interested in making a difference and giving back, we want you!

Unlike most Rotary clubs, we have regular meetings only twice a month.  Community service projects are scheduled in between meetings.  But fewer formal meetings means its easier to fit Rotary into your schedule and your budget.

If you have ideas you'd like to share for improving the lives of the people in North Sacramento and Del Paso Heights, we want you!  If you don't get satisfaction from your career or job, Rotary may be an outlet to express your passion.  Did life get in the way of being what you always "wanted to be when you grow up"?  Now is your chance!

Our club was chartered in 1925 and we're in transition.  We continue to support tried-and-true projects, like the third grade dictionary project in Twin Rivers School District, the Sacramento Spelling Bee, and Rotary House (our signature project), as well as international projects, like our current in-the-works global grant for a water project in a village in Mexico, but we're always looking for new ideas.

Of all the neighborhoods in the greater Sacramento area, you cannot find one more in need of assistance than Del Paso Heights.  Our projects tend to focus on youth and senior citizens.  From sorting food at the Sacramento Food Bank and Family Services, to helping the Rio Linda Resource Center with their yard sale, to sponsoring the Grant High School Interact Club (the high school equivalent of a Rotary Club), and donating scholarships to Grant High School students each year for leadership camp, we are making a difference in revitalizing North Sacramento and Del Paso Heights.  We are doing what we can to help the next generation get off to a better start.

But, most of all, we have fun.  Volunteering at the Save Mart Wine Garden at Cal Expo, our Demotion Dinners at the River Cats, a wine pairing party at a member's home: our club is more like a family than a service club.

If you want to check us out, just show up at one of our meetings.  We meet at D's Smokin' Pit on Del Paso Blvd. at noon on the first Thursday of each month and at Uptown Pizza Kitchen on Del Paso Blvd., at 5:30 p.m. on the third Thursday of each month.

Only two meetings a month, one for dinner and the other at noon, GREAT food, GREAT company, and a community that desperately needs a hand up, not a hand out; once you get to know us, you'll want to join us.  Then, we'll discuss cost, our expectations, your expectations, and how to join.

We look forward to meeting you!

MISSION STATEMENT OF THE NORTH SACRAMENTO ROTARY CLUB

The mission of the Rotary Club of North Sacramento is to make the world a more peaceful place by reaching out to local and international communities. As volunteers, we commit financial resources, our time, talent, and labor to support sustainable humanitarian programs and projects that improve the lives of children and seniors.
