Sam Varteniuk did a presentation to our club in appreciation for the Urban Spirits Rotary Club sponsoring his participation in the 2005/2006 GSE Exchange to Japan. His words are inspiring and remind us all of why we're a part of Rotary and how small gestures can have profound impacts on the lives of others.

The Group Study Exchange (GSE) program is a unique cultural and vocational exchange opportunity for young business and professional men and women ages 25-40 in their initial years of professional life. Teams spend four to six weeks abroad participating in vocational activities in their respective fields, being immersed in cultural experiences, enjoying fellowship with host families and members of the community, and working with the host district's Rotarians at club meetings and various Rotary activities.

The GSE Selection Committee relies on Rotarians like you to both apply as possible team leaders and also to assist in finding candidates to participate as team members. If you are interested in applying or submitting a candidate's name, forms are available by clicking here.

The Urban Spirits Rotary Club has also sponsored the following exchangees:

  • Cole Nychka, 2006-07 GSE Exchangee to Norway and Current Club Member
  • Erin Hampson, 2008-09 GSE Exchangee to Nigeria

The 2009-10 GSE exchange will be to Rotary District 4530 in Brazil.
